12-04-2007 - How to be an Authentic Disciple
If anyone desires to come after Me...

18 And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined
Him, and He asked them, saying, “Who do the
crowds say that I am?”
19 So they answered and said, “John the Baptist, but some say Elijah;
and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.”
20 He said to them, “But who do you say that
I am?”
Peter answered and said, “The Christ of God.”
21 And He strictly warned and commanded them to tell this to no one,
22 saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many
things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and
be killed, and be raised the third day.”
23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires
to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily,[a]
and follow Me." (Luke 9:18-23, NKJV)
To take up one's cross means to do God's will for your life. You want Christ's Lordship to be an Authentic Disciple.
The heartbeat, the essence, the core of an aunthentic disciple is to follow what Christ said in Luke 9:23. Denying Ourselfs, Taking up our Cross, and Following Jesus. Our world wants you to accept anything and everything but we cannot accept everything. We are living in a time when you can believe anything but that is no way to find out what God wants for your lives. To find out what is God's will is that we need to read His word daily.
In our daily walk we need to ask ourselves "Am I doing what God wants or am I doing what I want? Are my friends, co-workers, or the crowd following what God wants? Many times to do what God wants is not what the world wants!
Spend time with God in the Word and in Prayer! The more we spend time reading His word, the more time we know what to do when we come up in a crossroad.
Brothers and Sisters,
Please Join me in prayer that God will help us be aware what his will
is for each and everyone of our lives.
In God's Love,
